Hello, my name is Aoife Murtagh, and I’m a qualified psychotherapist (MA) offering counselling and psychotherapy remotely, and in person in the Beacon Therapy Centre in Sandyford, Dublin 18.

Thinking about starting therapy can be daunting, especially if you’ve never been to therapy before. I always try my best to put clients at ease and meet them where they are. I collaborate with clients to create a roadmap to change that fits their needs and goals. I have a background in Psychology and Neuropsychology, and enjoy talking to clients about how the brain works and how we can help to keep it happier and healthier.

The main modalities I draw from as a therapist are Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy. CBT is based on the idea that finding new ways of thinking about things or new ways of doing things can help change the way we feel. Schema Therapy involves identifying the origins of patterns or ways of thinking that cause us trouble and helping us to challenge those patterns.

I have experience in a variety of settings and am happy to see a wide range of clients, including those dealing with: depression or low mood, anxiety, life stress, relationship problems, sleep problems, issues related to gender or sexuality, issues related to neurodiversity, physical illness (acute or chronic) or disability, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia (in collaboration with medical team), or acquired brain injury (including those with aphasia).

My accrediting body is the Association of Professional Counselors and Psychotherapists (APCP).

Fees:

Therapy can be prohibitively expensive to many, and sometimes particularly those going through difficult times. I offer a competitively priced rate of €50 per session. After four initial weekly sessions, I also offer a more spaced out biweekly option.
